A reliable source close to the singer has revealed that Taylor Swift will not be showing up at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards slated for this Sunday.
Although it is not overly clear
why the superstar will not be gracing the occasion with her presence, she
remains nominated for best solo performance, song of the year as well as best
pop vocal album.
“Miss Americana,” Swift’s Netflix Documentary
But earlier in the week, Swift
attended the premiere of her brand-new Netflix documentary
“Miss Americana” at the Sundance Film Festival Thursday. She
talked extensively about how she overcame an eating disorder and revealed many
other hidden things about her life.
Even though it was somewhat
difficult for her to talk about the challenge, she, however, found the courage
to reveal that part of her life that only very few people know about.
“I didn’t know if I was going to
feel comfortable talking about body image and about the stuff that I have gone
through in terms of how unhealthy it has been for me: my relationship with food
and all that over several years,” she says.
Swift even recollected a trigger
when she was just 18 years old. At the time, a tabloid suggested she looked
pregnant.
Swift says “I remember how
when I was just 18, and I featured on the cover of a magazine for the first
time in my life.
The headline read ‘Pregnant at
18?’ This was because the clothes I wore made my lower stomach look somewhat
protruded. So, I registered it as a punishment.”
The
Lawsuit against the Academy
The news that the “Lover” singer
won’t be attending the awards comes during a week that seems difficult for the
Grammys.
For instance, the former head of
the Grammys, Deborah Dugan, filed a lawsuit against the National Academy of
Recording Arts and Sciences last Tuesday. She alleged that she was unfairly
fired after she raised allegations of irregularities with the Grammy
nominations and sexual harassment.
The lawsuit was filed with the
EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission), and it came just a few days
after Dugan was set on leave for “misconduct,” according to the
Academy.
The former head of the Grammys
stated that she was forcefully placed on administrative leave at least three
weeks after she sent out an email to the managing director of human resources
at the Academy.
Dugan readily outlined several
bombshell allegations against the large organization as well as its
“historically male-dominated leadership,” as stated by the complaint
tendered to the EEOC.
But the Recording Academy
released a statement that Dugan did not raise these allegations until another
employee made legal claims against her. This employee – names withheld –
alleged that Dugan “created an intolerable and toxic” work environment and also
engaged in “bullying and abusive conduct.”
Deborah Dugan was the first woman
to head the Academy since inception. The Academy employed her for at least 5
months before she was forcefully placed on administrative leave and then fired.
The 62nd Annual Grammy Award has been scheduled to hold at Staples Center, located in Los Angeles.
