We love celebrities; they provide us with great music, exciting films, and dramatic stories. Even when life gets tough, their work keeps us company. Also, we love the fact that they have the money to buy the most extravagant pets on the planet. Here’s some of our favorites through the years!
Mike Tyson – Tigers
Need we say more? Nobody would ever say the wrong thing to Mike Tyson. For a time, this was even more true since he owned three Bengal tigers. Unfortunately, he was forced into giving them up eventually. Yet, there was still time for one of them to knock out one of Mike’s gold teeth (the story just gets weirder and weirder!).
Kirstie Alley – Lemurs
Not only does Kirstie Alley have some beautiful ring-tailed lemurs, she hires two people to look after them at a cost of nearly $50,000 per year.
George Clooney – Pot-Bellied Pig
As one of the most famous movie stars in history, George Clooney could buy any animal on the planet. Yet, in the early 2000s, he decided on a pot-bellied pig and called it Max. For a total of 18 years, Max stayed with George and actually outlived most others; the majority only live to between 12 and 15 years.
Michael Jackson – Chimpanzee
How could we make a list of unique celeb pets and not include the world-famous Bubbles? With a simple search online, you’ll find hundreds of photographs of the pair. Initially, they lived together in the 1980s. As both got older, Bubbles joined others of the same species in a Floridian primate sanctuary; he was 26 when Michael passed away.
We shouldn’t forget that the Thriller singer’s Neverland Ranch also had snakes, giraffes, tigers, and elephants (beat that, Tyson!).
Tippi Hedren – Lion
Back in the 70s and 80s, Tippi Hedren was known to keep several big cats in her home (very brave!). Among them was a pet lion and there’s one fantastic photo of Hedren lying down, resting on the lion while reading the newspaper. Meanwhile, the lion’s face couldn’t look more content. In 1983, Hedren founded the Shambala Preserve and moved her cats across.
Audrey Hepburn – Fawn
Audrey Hepburn was no stranger to the headlines during her career, but it was in her role in Breakfast at Tiffany’s that she made headlines for living with Pippin the fawn. According to the trainer, allowing Hepburn to take Pippin home would help them to get closer. Eventually, they were so close that Pippin thought Hepburn was her mother.
Salvador Dali – Anteater
Is there a more iconic pet-related image than Salvador Dali taking his anteater for a walk in Paris? Taken back in 1969, it looks like the strangest yet most normal image ever of the famous surrealist; it somehow fits perfectly.
