The IDA Documentary Awards happens to be a highly prestigious event that is organized to celebrate the documentary genre. This event is dedicated towards the celebration of nonfiction films as well as nonfiction programs for the annual cycle. For the 2019 Awards event, an official call has been made for the submission of entries. Take a look at the timeline below –
May 6: Official call has been made for the submission of entries
June 10: This date represents the early deadline for entries.
June 28: This date represents the regular deadline for entries.
July 8: This date represents the extended deadline for entries.
Mid-October: this is when the shortlist announcement will take place
Late October: announcement for the Nominees as well as honorees
November: International Documentary Association members cast their Best Feature as well as Best Short Votes.
December 7: International Documentary Association Documentary Awards ceremony

Rules & Regulations
- October 1, 2018, is when the period for eligibility began. Films, series, as well as, audio documentaries that are already completed or are set to premiere not later than December 31, 2019, are included. For series, eligibility counts based on the Awards year where most of its episodes got broadcasted or uploaded.
- Submission of projects can be carried out in any eligible year. This represents the year of their completion or when they are broadcasted or premiered. Projects which have been approved to compete cannot be submitted in subsequent years.
- The IDA is responsible for determining if a submission is really eligible. The IDA is also responsible for interpreting specific rules as well as the criteria for submissions when required.
Rule’s Acceptance
On the submission of the digital entry form, you agree that you fully accept the rules and regulations that have been stipulated by the IDA for the Documentary Awards 2019. If you list yourself as the submitter while processing the submission form, you directly agree that you own the production being submitted or that you are a representative that has been authorized by the owners. This is also inclusive of the copyright.
By doing so, you are permitting the IDA to make use of the production which has been submitted.
All questions that you have regarding the 2019 Documentary Awards are to be answered by the IDA alone. In the event that disputes occur at any point in relation to the documentary awards being organized by the IDA, legal proceedings shall be presided over and decided with respect to California State laws.
If you fail to stick to the rules that are spelled out by the International Documentary Association, your entry will be rendered ineligible. Also, any entry fees that you have paid will be lost with no refunds.
