Supernatural Farewell Tour Continues: Door Not Closed for Ackles

Supernatural is a brilliant TV show and it has steadily built a cult following not only in the US but all over the world. Therefore, news that the show was coming to an end was met by sadness. As the final season draws ever closer, we’re starting to learn more about what will happen…and whether this is reallythe end.

Jensen Ackles ‘Open’ in the Future

Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean, has been very open about his opinions of the show. In a recent interview, he stated that it’s ‘foolish…to close doors or burn bridges’. Although he didn’t say there were any conversations about future seasons at this point, he did state that he would always be open to ideas.

At this stage, production has begun on the final season and Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam, has commented on the feeling around the cast and crew. He said that it’s been a 327-hour movie and that it’s a ‘blessing’ to be advancing the story in this next season.

What about the executive producer, Andrew Dabb? Well, he says the 14th season is being viewed as a ‘true ending’. The brothers have faced life and death before, but Dabb says that it’s ‘for real’ this time.

Finale to Start Debates?

As well as speaking about the future, Ackles has also spoken of the season finale. In particular, he noted that he wants the finale to do justice to all the hard work the cast and crew have put in over the years. However, he spoke to USA Today and said that ‘you’re not going to please everybody. You can’t.’

After the disappointment of many fans with the Game of Thrones final season, we hope Supernatural can keep fans entertained right to the very end. If the past seasons are anything to go by, we’re in good hands with the writers.

Potential for a Spin-Off?

If you’ve been keeping up to date with the Supernatural rumors, you will have seen that many are hoping for a spin-off. Mark Pedowitz, head of the CW, was asked this very question at the Television Critics Association press tour. Essentially, he said that a spin-off was unlikely (sorry!).

Of course, avid fans will know that the Supernatural franchise has attempted spin-off shows before. With The Wayward Sisters and Supernatural: Bloodlines both failing to get the attention of networks and fans alike, everybody involved is likely to be nervous about making a third attempt to get picked up.

In another interview, Pedowitz said that ‘the show’s essence is Jared and Jensen’. Is it the two main actors that have been drawing in crowds for nearly 15 years? They’ve certainly had a brilliant relationship and followers seem to love the fact that the pair also have a close friendship in real life.

For now, we can look forward to the final season when it comes. After that, we can cry a little, feel disappointed, and start the show all over again from the first season!
