Succession is a satirical comedy and dark drama show that spins around the Logan family. The show has been a long-time favorite for millions of fans around the world. The HBO show is now finally coming to an end. Some actors on the show admit that the news of the final season was somewhat sudden and unexpected for them. Either way, things are all set to end with the fourth and final season of Succession. Creator Jesse Armstrong recently announced the finisher and asked fans to bid the series farewell. Now, actor Nicholas Braun opened up about the show and his character, Cousin Greg.
Braun and Greg
The Emmy-winning series has been a big investment from HBO that took the fans by storm. It boasts an IMDb rating of 8.8/10 and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 94%, which is no small feat for any show. But as all good things do, many fans feel that the show is ending way too soon. One of them is actor Nicholas Braun who is known as Cousin Greg in the show. He appeared at the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards and spoke about his role and the show’s ending.
“That was kind of a big one,” Braun said, talking about Armstrong’s announcement. “We were expecting it while we were making the show, but you don’t believe it till Jesse says it. We’re all pretty bummed. I was sad as hell on my last day.”
The fourth and final season is all set to debut on the 26th of March. Braun just recently finished shooting, and while everything wrapped up, some tears and long-goodbye hugs were not only seen but felt.
“I finished a couple of weeks ago, and it was really a tough day, you know, saying goodbye to everybody. It’s been the greatest working experience of my life. So saying goodbye to those people was really tough.” The actor said.
Braun recently worked on a film called Cat Person which debuted at Sundance. He was working on these multiple projects and was completely left in the dark about the ending of Succession. In fact, none of the cast members knew that it was their final season together. They couldn’t have known before they got their hands on the script, and so, the news obviously took everyone by surprise. Braun does, however, mention that the ending of the show is going to be absolutely amazing, which fits perfectly since the show is so well made as well.
“We had an idea,” Braun said when asked about Succession’s future. “None of us read the script before it came to us — a table read draft came to us — so we didn’t exactly know how it was gonna end. Anyway, the ending is fire.”
Creator Jesse Armstrong had been in conversation with The New Yorker, where he talked about the limited future of the story and the show. Braun said they had an idea of the ending because Armstrong had always been sure about it.
“I’ve never thought this could go on forever. The end has always been kind of present in my mind.” He had said at the time.
Now, it’s time for the brilliant cast to move on to newer projects and further explore their talents. Braun, who plays Cousin Greg, didn’t say much about how his character ends up, but he did say this:
“He gets battered around again this season. Some fun stuff.”
It may be perfectly fun for Greg, but everyone knows that the Succession family will be missed by the fans. Hopefully, we will see the cast together again in a different project.
