2019 has seen more celebrity couples separate than we can
count. Remember Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth?
Solange Knowles, younger sister to pop singer superstar, Beyoncé
yesterday in an Instagram post revealed she has split with her husband after 5
years of marriage.
The 33-year-old singer and Alan who is a music video director
had known each other for six years before tying the knot in New Orleans in Nov.
2014.
Revealing the separation, she wrote, “The past two years have
brought me more physical and spiritual transition and evolution than ever
before.
“My body left me with no choice but to listen and be still. Within the stillness, I begin my journey in confronting my worst enemy, fear.”
Knowles referenced her lifestyle which she said, had been
lived “in front of the lens and gaze of the world.”
“I’ve lived my best and worst moments in front of the leans and gaze of the world since I was a teenager,” she wrote.
“I’ve always tried to live in my truth no matter how ugly or
full of love it is. I’ve also tried to carve out the space to protect my heart,
and my life as it unfolds, evolves and changes.”
Then, she dropped the bombshell, that she and Alan are no
longer together after a secret separation earlier in the year – interestingly,
she called her ex husband “phenomenal man who changed every existence of my
life.”
“11 years ago, I met a phenomenal man who changed every existence of my life. Early this year we separated and parted ways.
“I find it necessary to protect the sacredness of my personal truth and to love in it fully just as I have before and will continue to do,” the singer wrote.
She then alluded to not having power over her own story. Did
she feel caged and tied down in her marriage to Alan?
“It is unfair to not have power of your own story as you shape and mold and rewrite it yourself.
But of course, the singer acknowledged she’s afraid. “Ain’t
perfect, but I’m leaning into the fear of the unknown and the glory and power I
know exist within god and the universe’s grace.”
She capped her post in an upbeat note. “May all of your
transitions no matter how big or small, be kind to you and filled with
incredible love and light!”
What we know about Knowles and Alan Marriage
Knowles marriage to Alan was her second. She was previously
married to Daniel Smith with whom she had a son, Julez. She was 17 and Smith 19
at the time. They divorced after 3 years.
Met and started dating Alan somewhere around 2008, the saw
each other for six years until 2014 when they tied the knot. So, in all, Knowles and Alan had
been together for 11 years – that’s quite a feat in Hollywood.
During her wedding to Alan, her big sister, Beyoncé and her
husband Jay-Z and daughter wore a shade of white.
