It appears the imperial drama taking place in the U.K. is far from over as Prince Harry, Prince William his brother and their father Prince Charles has arrived at Sandringham for a royal summit. This is in order to address the crisis that was set off by the youngest couple in the British Royal Family, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan over their historic announcement last week.
However, what remains unclear
to all and sundry is whether or not Duchess Meghan has joined or will join her
husband over the phone for the uncommon sit-down meeting with Queen Elizabeth
II and other senior royal courtiers from relevant households.
No Announcement Made About
Specifics of Meeting
No announcement has been made
about the particulars of what was discussed and whether or not any decisions
were made.
Buckingham Palace had earlier
confirmed that Harry would sit down with his father, brother, and grandmother
for person-to-person talks in order to discuss the solution to the crisis that
arose last week following Harry and Meghan’s announcement.
Meghan, who is presently in
Canada, was expected to take part in the meeting, though this was not
officially confirmed early.
The plans of the Duke and
Duchess of Sussex has been under severe criticism in Britain and attacked as
impracticable. Many have surmised that this action amounts to an unspeakable
split in the royal family.
The royal summit is holding
at Sandringham which is the private estate of the Queen located in Norfolk and
is approximately 100 miles north of London. This is where Queen Elizabeth
mostly stays between late December and early February.
Meghan Excluded from Royal Conference
Call
According to the Associated
Press, Duchess Meghan was not included in the conference call that took place
on Friday. The group that is in attendance at the summit were all present in
the alleged conference call.
Buckingham Palace, however,
confirmed that the Duchess had traveled to Canada to rejoin her beloved
8-month-old Archie.
Harry and William Challenge
Accuracy of a Story
Both William and Harry, ahead
of the meeting, issued a joint statement in which they challenged the accuracy
of a story that ran in a London newspaper on Monday.
The story portrayed a severe
breakdown in the relationship between the two loving brothers. According to the
story carried by the Times
of London.
The statement from Buckingham
Palace, which was sent via email to a renowned news outlet in the USA,
vehemently denied the story that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were driven
away from the royal family as a result of a supposed “bullying” by both William
and Duchess Kate of Cambridge, his wife. It was said that the older couple were
somewhat unfriendly to Harry’s wife, Meghan.
The statement reads “Despite
clear denials, a false story ran in a U.K. newspaper which speculates about the
relationship between the Dukes of Sussex and Cambridge. For brothers who care
very deeply about the issues that has to do with mental health, the use of instigative
language in this way is both offensive and potentially harmful.”
Prince Harry still has a
royal engagement that is scheduled for this week: he’s expected to host the
Rugby League World Cup 2021 draws taking place at Buckingham Palace come Thursday.
He succeeded the Queen back in 2016 and is now the royal patron of the Rugby
Football League.
