Oscar 2020 Win for Taylor Swift?

We know what you’re thinking; ‘it’s the end of May, the Oscars ceremony was only three months ago, why are you talking about the next one already’. However, we aren’t the only ones because Taylor Swift also seems to have her eyes on one of the big prizes at Oscars 2020.

A Cat’s Life

Over the years, Swift has been blessed when it comes to Grammys. According to a source close to Taylor Swift, she feels incredibly lucky to win so many prestigious awards. As a hard worker, she enjoys the praise and recognition after slogging away making new albums and great music. Now, she wants to turn her attention to acting after being named in the cast of the film adaptation of Cats; as Bombalurina.

For a while, there were rumors suggesting that Bombalurina’s role in the movie would be relatively small. Now, it’s the opposite after Swift spent four months in cat school. As strange as it sounds, the cast were sent to cat school so they could learn the movements and behaviors of cats. While the Cats team suggested just three days, she spent four months at the school and said she had great fun being there.

Taylor is expected to sing four different songs as Bombalurina;

  • Grizabella: The Glamour Cat
  • The Old Gumbie Cat
  • Macavity: The Mystery Cat
  • The Rum Tum Tugger

With four months in cat school, there’s no doubt she’s taking the role seriously and dedication of this standard certainly deserves attention. It remains to be seen just how well she picked up the lessons from our feline friends.

Cats will be Taylor’s first return to acting since 2014 where she appeared in The Giver. According to an insider source, she has been reading lots of different scripts since but has been intent on waiting for the right role; it seems this role has now arrived.

All-Star Cast

With films like The Avengers taking ‘all-star cast’ to a whole new meaning, the idea of getting lots of big names together is quickly becoming a trend. For the producers and directors of Cats, they must be ecstatic with the names they’ve managed to capture. You can look forward to seeing the following;

  • Sir Ian McKellen (Gus the Theatre Cat)
  • James Corden (Bustopher Jones)
  • Jason Derulo (Rum Tum Tugger)
  • Rebel Wilson (Jennyanydots)
  • Jennifer Hudson (Grizabella)
  • Idris Elba (Macavity)
  • Dame Judi Dench (Deuteronomy)

Wow, need we say more? With a wonderful blend of British and American actors, we can’t wait to see how this film adaptation ends up. If everybody is as excited and dedicated as Taylor Swift, it seems we’ll be in great hands.

For those who are reading this in panic because you enjoy Taylor’s music, don’t worry. The same source noted how she is still motivated to create great music; the pull of this job was too much to resist and we’re excited to watch it in the cinema.

At the moment, the film has a release date of 20 December (perfect timing to generate excitement for the Oscars!).
