For all Glee fans, it has been a turbulent time over the years. Sadly, we have some more heart-wrenching news after Naya Rivera was confirmed missing. Known for her role as Santana on the hit show, she decided to take her son for a boat trip in Southern California yesterday. After renting at Lake Piru, it was her son who was found alone three hours later.
What Happened?
According to various reports, a boater on Lake Piru discovered the rented boat with Rivera’s child sitting alone. After questioning the young boy, it seems the pair left the boat to swim and only the child returned. Soon after, the missing person was identified as Naya Rivera.
Immediately, authorities sprang into action and began the search for the much-loved star. In terms of the timings, she rented the boat around 1pm. From here, her son was found alone at around 4pm. Shortly after, Ventura County rescuers began the search. Unfortunately, there were no results before a lack of light forced the rescuers to halt their search temporarily. On Twitter, the Ventura County Sheriff posted that search and rescue missions will continue as soon as light returns.
As of yet, we have no news and assume that the search has begun again this morning.
Sad News for Glee Fans
This news will come as a shock to those who follow Rivera after she posted on Twitter on Tuesday. Next to a picture cuddling her son, the caption read ‘just the two of us’. While the post was initially filled with positive comments, it quickly turned into messages from well-wishers.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that fans of Glee have been forced into accepting some bad news regarding the cast. In 2013, one of the lead actors, Cory Monteith, was found dead in a hotel room after an alcohol and heroin overdose. After playing Finn Hudson for around four years, his addiction problems were widely known, and the addiction sadly won the battle while Glee was still at its peak in the US and many other countries.
Five years later, another leading actor, Mark Salling, was discovered dead in his Los Angeles home. Salling faced a spell in prison after possession of child pornography charges. After agreeing a plea deal, he was expected to receive between four and seven years in prison. Before any sentencing took place, he was found hanged in his home, thought to be suicide.
Hope for Good News
After lots of despair around Glee, fans will be hoping that they haven’t lost a third star just 11 years after it all began. Fortunately, Josey, Naya’s young son, was safe and is now thought to be with relatives. If some reports are to be believed, her Mercedes G Wagon containing her purse was in a parking lot nearby.
