TV
shows have a special way of drawing us in, making us relate to characters, and tearing
us apart again when it all goes wrong (or ends!). Over the years, some
emotional TV episodes have aired on our screens and we want to list some of our
favorites here today. Of course, we can only list a few. Why not let us know
what episode or show touches you? Also, there will be spoilers, so be careful
if you’re watching any of these shows currently!
1.
Grey’s Anatomy (Flight)
As
Lexie is dying in the plane crash and desperately wants to be with Mark, this
is a scene that tugs on the heart strings of even the coldest individuals. Not
only is the scene well written, the whole episode is magical and plays on the
emotions of the audience. Even if you haven’t seen a single episode of Grey’s
Anatomy,
we believe this scene will bring a tear to your eye.
2.
Orange is the New Black (Be Free)
OITNB
has a number of memorable scenes and episodes, but we settled on the story of
Blanca and Diablo. Expecting her release, Diablo waits for Blanca with a
bouquet of flowers. After a rough time, the two were itching to be together and
start the next chapter of their lives. Sadly, it wasn’t to be as Blanca is put
back into handcuffs and then deported from the country.
3.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (Papa’s Got a Brand-New Excuse)
Did
you really think we would miss this from the list? As perhaps one of the most heart-wrenching
episodes ever to hit TV screens anywhere, Will’s dad comes back
onto the scene only to prove a huge disappointment. Just as Will was letting
his guard down and getting used to the idea of having a father around, the dad
makes excuses and walks away. Cue the tears, and a scene that many still can’t
watch as Uncle Phil pulls Will into his arms. Will says the immortal line, ‘How
come he don’t want me, man?’
According
to some sources, the hug from Uncle Phil wasn’t actually scripted, and this
makes the episode even better (well, more emotional!).
4.
Friends (The Last One)
After
making audiences around the world laugh for around ten years, news broke that
Friends would be coming to an end and it left us all dreading the final
episode. Right at the very end, the group all put their keys on the counter and
walk out of the apartment one last time.
5.
How I Met Your Mother (Bad News)
Emotional
scenes and episodes are always unexpected when you’re watching a comedy, and
this was the case when Marshall’s father dies. Watching the episode is sad
enough, but there are a few hidden Easter eggs in it too. Firstly, there’s a countdown
to the bad news
from 50 from the very start of the episode. Secondly, rumors suggest that Jason
Segel was going to be told something different in the script. Therefore, his
reaction to the news is genuine.
