Michelle Randolph Talks About Working On 1923 And Season 1 Ending

Michelle Randolph is a talented new actress rising up in the industry, especially with her great new role as Elizabeth Strafford in the Taylor Sheridan show 1923. She has previously worked on films like The Resort and House of The Witch. 1923 is a prequel to another one of Sheridan’s shows called Yellowstone. The prequel sees the Dutton family fight off a series of unfortunate events and situations while trying to keep the romance alive. Here’s the official plot summary of 1923:

About Season 1 And Randoplph’s Character

Randolph plays the wife of Jack Dutton, who fell in love with him when she came back home from school during one of her summer breaks in the past. Randolph and Jack Dutton actor Darren Mann have worked together before. The two played a couple in House of The Witch, so the chemistry comes pretty naturally to the two of them. 

Randolph also has the pleasure of being mentored by the veteran Hollywood actress Helen Mirren. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Michelle Randolph spoke about her and Mann’s characters being a proper American couple.

Their relationship, I imagine, is like every Taylor Swift music video or cheesy love song,” She said. “It’s the perfect little love story, and it was fun being able to play into that because it’s not something I’ve experienced in my real life. It’s very, very beautiful.”

The show recently got renewed for a second season on the streaming service Paramount+. This was a source of a lot of relief for the actress, who also had some expectations regarding the ending of the first season.

“Thank goodness we have a season two,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m happy about it, and I think everyone else will be as well. There’s a lot of loose ends to tie up.” 

So it’s clear that at least Randolph expects there to be some sort of a cliffhanger or an ending that doesn’t entirely answer all the questions. A date has not yet been announced for the release of the second season, but with the story developing slowly, a release date within the next few months is more or less inevitable.

Randolph Talks About Her Experience

Michelle Randolph worked on her first film back in 2017. This would be the first time she is working on a project of this stature with names such as Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford attached to it. The actress told The Hollywood Reporter that she recorded a tape of herself to send over for initial auditions. When she got a callback, she flew to Wyoming and gave an actual audition. It was only joyful when she found out that she would be working with her co-star from her very first film, Darren Mann.

“…when we both found out that we were going to be working together, I was so happy because it’s obviously quite an intimidating show to walk into. So I was excited about having a lot of scenes with somebody I’m already comfortable with, and the same with Darren. We’ve kept in contact over the years.”

The actors are close and now have been brought closer thanks to Sheridan’s new show. This show is a very new experience and genre for Randolph, and learning to ride horses and sitting next to greats like Mirren is just part of the whole experience. The good thing is, we’ll be seeing more of her very soon with a new season.
