Machine Gun Kelly’s Silver Foil Dolce And Gabbana To The Grammys

Machine Gun Kelly is once again in the headlines, and this time, it’s not because he’s being dissed by a famous rapper. His brilliant stylist Adam Ballheim spoke about the interesting styling choice at length in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, talking about how the suit is meant to symbolize Kelly’s recent conditions in his personal and professional life that affects the style.

“We started working together right before the pandemic hit, and he’s come into his own in so many ways during that time,” said Ballheim. “Professionally, personally, stylistically, it’s been a really exciting time for him. And lately, it feels like he’s expressing who he is truly more openly to the public.”

Machine Gun Kelly also opened up many conversations the last time he showed up on the red carpet wearing a purple Dolce and Gabbana suit with spikes sticking out of it. Of course, the spikes were soft and mere objects of fashion. This time, it’s the silver foil suit from the same brand and designer. So, what has changed?

“This is the first Grammy nomination for Kells, so we wanted to make it feel really special,” said Adam Ballheim, his stylist. “This moment was very much something he had moving around in his brain. We wanted to make sure he looked like a rock artist, but also a bit punk, while also making sure the look felt respectful to the Grammys and this moment in his career, and ultimately feeling elevated and cool.”

The suit resembles silver foil and is meant to be worn without a shirt since it has no lapel and is a deep V-neck suit. It’s a double-breasted suit with a crystal harness that brings the whole thing together. The stylists wanted to go for a look that was elegant enough for the Grammys and also punk-rock at the same time. Since the artist is looking up to his very first nomination in a genre that he’s new to, the suit signifies his bold new journey and is very reflective for similar reasons.

 The trousers, on the other hand, are skinny, which is the kind of style that the musician prefers. The material adds a layer of stiffness to the clothes, which is a unique detail the designers have managed to bring out.

The artist is famously engaged to star actress Megan Fox wore a beautiful white gown by Zuhair Murad. Maeve Reilly, Fox’s stylist, shared her thoughts about the dress on Instagram. She mentioned how the award function was meant to be his night, so she wanted to keep the focus on Kelly instead of Fox, so the dress was meant to be relatively simple and gorgeous. She said:

“I wanted to find a simple classic white gown for Megan but still something that felt like her with a bit of an edge. I knew this was the dress the second I saw it and begged [Murad’s team] to ship it in from Paris for me. It was exactly what she wanted and was the only thing she tried on. Tonight was his night, so we really wanted to keep her look simple and classic so he could shine!”

Regardless of whether Machine Gun Kelly won the award or not, he and Megan Fox definitely won media attention with their amazing sense of fashion.
