If
you’ve recently paid for Disney+ and are wondering whether or not the purchase
was worthwhile, we have great news…the Lizzie McGuire reboot has been
CONFIRMED and is now in filming!
After
weeks of speculation, the news we’ve all been waiting for is here, and it gets
even better. Not only is Hilary Duff returning as Elizabeth McGuire, Adam
Lamberg will be returning to his rightful place as David ‘Gordo’ Gordon. Thanks
to a tweet
from the Disney+ channel,
we know that the show is now in filming. In the short video, Duff explained
that Robert Carradine will come back as Sam, Lizzie’s dad. Meanwhile, Hallie
Todd will return as her mother while Jake Thomas also reprises the role of
Matt.
For
those who have been checking in on Lizzie McGuire news every day, you
may have heard most of this. However, there was still one big question mark
over the show. Will Gordo also return? Fortunately, we now have the answer as
the same Twitter video ends with Adam Lamberg walking into the shot.
Since
the video, Duff has released a statement and noted that she was eager to have
Lamberg on board. Since Gordo was so important to the original show, she
believes it would have been difficult for the whole thing to return without
him. Also, she expressed her excitement in seeing how Gordo fits into Lizzie’s
life so many years later.
When
Will Lizzie McGuire Return?
This
is the big question, and the answer hasn’t yet been revealed by the show’s
creators. We do know that it will go straight onto Disney+, so the fact that
this platform is now up and running is a positive step. With little over a
month left of 2019, it’s not expected to be too long before we’re all watching
Lizzie McGuire
together once again.
Though
most details have been kept under wraps so far, a synopsis has been released
for the show. It explains that Lizzie ‘seemingly has it all’. At the
start of the return, Lizzie is working alongside a New York City decorator, has
a dream guy, and lives in a fancy apartment. However, as the summary explains,
‘things aren’t always as they seem.’
Hit
or Miss?
Will
Lizzie McGuire bring us a sense of nostalgia? Or will it be a
disappointing return that leads us to thinking the creators should have left it
alone? Well, reboots
aren’t a guaranteed success
these days. For example, Arrested Development left our screens for a
number of years. While the original scored 98% with the critics, the reboot
scored just over 40%. Elsewhere, 90210 never lived up to the hype of Beverly
Hills 90210 while Fuller House and MacGyver have both
struggled in recent years.
On
the other hand, if done correctly, we could have something like Twin Peaks
which scored higher in the more recent return than the original. Also, Veronica
Mars has earned very good reviews and has lived up to expectation.
How
do you think Lizzie McGuire will fare?
