Lisa Vanderpump’s Transgender Joke Turns Sour!

Published

on

Lisa Vanderpump will really be wishing that she never Joked about transgenders at this moment. One may guess that she took it too far this week on Tuesday night’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. We have a feeling that this reality star who has gone on to be a media veteran is probably feeling so much regret right now.

Here is how it all happened.

On the episode which took place on Tuesday night, Lisa Vanderpump gave her consent to take a test with the lie detector. She hoped to prove that she wasn’t the one who gave out information regarding the failure of Dorit Kemsley to return a little dog.

As she got prepped to go through the polygraph, she made a joke where she requested that she shouldn’t be asked if Erika is tucking. Her reason was that she wouldn’t be able to lie about something like that. As soon as she made the statement, she was overcome with laughter.

Even if some observers actually took the remark on a lighter note and found it extremely hilarious, a lot of persons have a feeling that she was totally insensitive. We do not know what her reason was but it appears that Vanderpump saw it as funny and thought it would appear that way to others by implying that Erika Jayne actually had a penis.

Regardless of the fact that the joke is silly and shows no signs of maturity command it is also rather read. Being transgender is a topic which has a lot of legitimacy and what Vanderpump did was to turn it into a joke. In fact, it could be seen as a diss in a worst-case scenario.

The first person among everyone to call Vanderpump out over the issue was Lisa Rinna who tweeted that it is now obvious that LVP is transphobic. It did not end there because, after the episode’s Tuesday airing, another critic popped up in the form of Candis Cayne.

Candis went on Twitter to say that Vanderpump’s joke about Erika is simply an ugly trans joke and it marginalizes the trans community. She stated that the jokes are not acceptable and that the fact that they were allies wasn’t an excuse for Vanderpump to issue statements that were transphobic.

Although Erika Jayne has not made any comments in direct response to Vanderpump’s supposed insult, she retweeted Candis’ message.

Candice Cayne’s statement about Vanderpump being an ally is true. She has stood behind the LGBTQ community and has thrown parties to honor events and parades organized in honor of gay pride. It is therefore expected that she should have the knowledge that her speech, as well as perceptions, are influential. They also do more harm to the cause which she tries to give her full support to if she takes any element or aspect and converts it into something to joke with or some kind of punchline.
