With M. Night Shyamalan’s newest film playing in every American film theatre, there is little doubt that the director has once again become the center of attention and the reason for high ticket sales. Meanwhile, Avatar: The Way of Water is slowly but surely getting closer to dethroning Titanic as the highest-grossing film of all time internationally.

Tom Brady’s 80 for Brady, where the sports icon stars as himself, has also had an interesting turn of events after a new idea of slashing ticket prices was introduced for the film. The film is seeing domestic success but will it last long?

Night Shyamalan’s Opener

Shyamalan’s newest horror flick Knock At the Cabin has received a warm reception from the audience, even if the same cannot be said about critics. The film has made about $14.2 million from domestic sales, however, it has not been regarded very highly especially by critics. It has so far received an IMDb rating of 6.4 and stands at a 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s enough to say that even though the film has made money through sales, it has still received only a lukewarm response.

Shyamalan’s last film Old, a film in which time is the enemy, was also not very well received by watchers and reviewers alike. Old had an IMDb rating of 5.8 while on Rotten Tomatoes it was given a 50% freshness score. The director has had a string of badly received films in recent times.

“I actually hate that I didn’t like it more.” said one fan on IMDb while giving the film a 6/10 rating. Many reviewers also seem upset about the ending, while there are those who think that the film was not on par with the novel it is based on. The novel is titled The Cabin At The End of The World.

James Cameron’s Avatar 2 has had another successful week as the film climbs closer and closer to the top with every ticket sold in the world. While domestically, the film may not be the top performer, for its eighth week, it’s still impressive that the film manages to collect $10.8 million in North America.

This only adds to its total global revenue which now stands at $2.174 billion, just a few shy of Titanic, a film that stands at the highest, $2.194 billion. Titanic is also set to be re-released on the 10th of February, which means that the film might go over its initial worldwide earnings. This new 3D release of the film is likely going to get some attention which might prove a challenge to Cameron’s new title. Either way, the money flows into the same wallet, one way or another.

The only other contenders in the way were the original Avatar and the widely beloved Avenger: Endgame. The new sequel by Cameron has long outdone these two films and now the only one that remains is Titanic.

80 for Brady

80 for Brady opened at the second position in North America and likely drew in a lot of Brady fans across all age groups, but specifically those older than 30. The film made $12.5 million. The film’s producers decided on adopting interesting pricing for tickets, the prices were reduced from around $18 to about $12 for audience members to enjoy the film. The usual 25%-30% price cut clearly had an effect on the film’s performance and helped it make such an impressive amount in its very initial days.
