Actor Kate Hudson handled the ongoing conversation about nepotism in Hollywood and said there are more examples of it in many other sectors as well.

Kate Hudson is handling the ongoing debate around nepotism in Hollywood, counting that it is persistent in a lot more in other industries and how she does not overlook the term ‘nepo baby’. Daughter of Hollywood Legends Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, Kate was also a factor in the coverage made by New York Magazine’s Year of the Nepo-Baby characteristic, which kickstarted the nepotism controversy and created chaos.

Except for Kate, the feature included a list of stars including Dakota Johnson, John David Washington, Lily-Rose Depp, Maude Apatow, Ben Platt, and Maya Hawke to quote a few. Before, actor Jamie Lee Curtis also remarked on the same debate on her Instagram expressing that even though nepotism is true-to-life, the endless conversation around it is nothing but fuel to lessen as well as hurt.

The Academy Award-nominated star counted on the conversation while announcing her latest film Glass Onion, the Rian Johnson-directed Knives Out sequel. “I don’t care where you come from or your relationship to the industry is… If you work hard and you kill it, it doesn’t matter,” the actor in an interview with The Independent.

“The nepotism thing, I mean… I don’t truly overlook it. I sit and talk to my kids and we’re a storytelling household. It’s certainly in our blood. People can name it whatever they want, but it’s not going to transform it… I actually think there are other sectors where it’s [more typical]—maybe modeling? I see it in the industry way more than I see it in Hollywood. Sometimes I’ve been in business conferences where I’m like, wait, whose child is this? Like, this person knows nothing,” she added. The Glass Onion actor said that nepotism is not just an issue with Hollywood as an industry. It lives in other industries as well. This is a topic that has been documented by the coverage, with its established look into the presence of nepotism in other endeavors like fashion, sports, and publishing.

Glass Onion is the critically praised sequel to Knives Out. It celebrates the return of Daniel Craig’s fictitious detective Benoit Blanc as he endeavors to solve another killing. The all-star ensemble cast is Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr, Madelyn Cline, and Dave Bautista. The film was released on the OTT platform Netflix on December 23.
