Actor Johnny Depp, who stars as King Louis XV in Jeanne du Barry, reportedly had heated controversies on the sets of the movie with director Maïwenn.

Johnny Depp reportedly had a difficult time filming his successive project, the French flick Jeanne du Barry, with director Maïwenn. The actor had verbal conflicts with the director under a number of circumstances, provoking a lot of arguments on the set.

In the latest interview, French showbiz commentator Bernard Montield divulged how the Pirates of the Caribbean actor had countless arguments with Maïwenn specifically because of timing problems. “Johnny Depp is an exceptional actor when he comes on the set… Except that sometimes the team is prepared at 6 am and no one comes. So, thereafter, Maïwenn gets angry and the next day, it is she who does not arrive and there is Johnny Depp… It’s a frenzy. They’re (expletive) off.” he said.

“It’s going very, very poorly. They argue continuously,” Bernard revealed on the talk-show TPMP, speaking of the time Jeanne du Barry was being filmed. The film is now in the post-production stage. Jeanne du Barry will be his first film after the actor won the vilification suit with ex-spouse Amber Heard. Johnny will recreate King Louis XV in the film, directed by Maïwenn. The French director also stars as Jeanne du Barry in the flick. The movie is set to release in 2023.

Meanwhile, Johnny was all set to repeat his role for the sixth film in the Pirates franchise but it was almost that time when his defamation lawsuit versus Amber owed to advance media speculations. Then it was announced that Disney had canceled the project in the wake-up to the vitriol allegations made by Amber.

Johnny had sued his ex-spouse in March 2019 for $50 million on a charge of her op-ed in The Washington Post in 2018, where she had corresponded about being a ‘public figure representing domestic abuse’. In his follow-up to the filings, Johnny had said that it was he, who was manipulated in the couple’s relationship. The seven-week defamation trial that ensued, terminated in favor of Johnny, who was granted $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in disciplinary damages. The punitive damages were further lessened to $350,000, still the tallest in the State. Amber, on the other hand, was also granted $2 million in damages.

During the trial, Johnny had voiced his desire to return back to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. He had said that the essence of Jack Sparrow merited a proper farewell.
