Jennifer Lopez – lovingly
nicknamed “J.Lo” by fans and music lovers around the world – is
reflecting on one of the most significant moments in her music career: the
Super Bowl.
The beloved superstar
co-headlined the halftime show with another superstar, Shakira. And Lopez’s
daughter, Emme Maribel Muñiz, also stole
the show along with the hearts of music lovers worldwide with her
brilliant rendition of Bruce Springsteen’s song “Born in USA.”
Muñiz performance was so
breathtaking that TV reality-show superstar Kim Kardashian tweeted “Can we talk
about how amazing @JLo’s daughter Emme sang on such a huge stage like the Super
Bowl?”

Shares a Behind-the-Scenes Video on Instagram
Lopez shared a video for the
viewing pleasure of her more than 113.3 million followers on Instagram from a
few moments before she walked out on stage to perform.
In the caption of the video,
she said what she wants is “the little girls on stage with me and all over the
world to know how to use their voices and be proud of everything they are.”
She added, “We are proud
to recognize that all of us together is what makes this beautiful country truly
great.”
She then added several tags
which include #PepsiHalftime, #BorninTheUSA, #LetsGetLoud, and #SuperBowlLIV.
Before this caption, there
was an earlier one which had a reference to “other people” who “try to build
walls, keep us out or put us in cages.” However, this aspect of Lopez’s caption
was later edited out.
Cultural and political themes
ran through the veins of the Super Bowl halftime show last Sunday in a significantly
unmissable way, i.e. a must-see.
Children
Perform to Portray Border Crisis
The children that Lopez
referenced were seen with her on stage and in structures that looked similar to
cages last Sunday. Viewers came to understand that the cage-like structures
were a statement that referred to the on-going border crisis.
Jennifer Lopez’s daughter,
11-year-old Emme Maribel Muñiz, also joined her lovely mother on stage, singing
a solo side by side with a children’s choir, to the delight of her father and
Lopez’s ex-husband, Marc Anthony, and the entire music universe.
The Grammy Award-winning
artist also tweeted his undiluted support for his remarkable daughter following
her performance at the Super Bowl.

Creatively Sends a Message of Unity to the World
At one point during the show,
Lopez – who is currently engaged to Alex Rodriguez – wore a
feather coat which featured the American flag on one side
and the Puerto Rican flag on the other.
This was a profound message
of unity that the “Jenny from the Block”
artist was trying to pass across to viewers all over the world.
According to Nielsen Media
Research, the Super Bowl halftime show was viewed by nothing less than 103
million individuals or sports lovers via Fox, the network that aired the game.
This number accurately
represents a 4 percent growth over last year’s halftime show which was
headlined – at the time – by Maroon 5.
