Just last week, Jennifer Lopez celebrated the 20th anniversary of her first Billboard No. 1, If You Had My Love. This week, thousands of people were screaming her name as she kicked off her world tour, ‘It’s My Party’, at the Golden Centre 1 in Sacramento.
50th Birthday Tour
As J-Lo turns 50, she’s about to head all over the country and world to celebrate with her fans in a summer tour. According to those who were at the opening night, it seems they’re in for a treat as Lopez combines both new and old music in a show to remember.
To nobody’s surprise, the first show was electric with talented backing dancers, all sorts of extravagant entrances (including the classic hula hoop entrance from the sky), and brilliant singing. Starting with ‘Medicine’, she moved into more recent music before then taking a trip down memory lane.
Fans went wild as ‘Jenny from the Block’ started and this started a short set of classics; this included ‘Love Don’t Cost a Thing’, ‘Get Right’, and ‘If You Had My Love’. Though some of these songs are now pushing 20 years of age, one thing was absolutely clear; Lopez still knows how to command a stage and drive an audience into a frenzy.
Soon enough, the show was back to more recent music and this included her recent duet with Cardi B. Although the rapper wasn’t present at the show, a screen was lowered for the rapper’s section of the song and the fans were treated once again.
Lopez Still on Top of the World
According to critics at the show, J-Lo is still at the top of her game and never lost her breath through intense dance routines and outfit changes. What’s more, her beautiful daughter Emme took to the stage and helped her mom sing ‘Limitless’. This is unlikely to appear at every show in the tour, but it was something special for the fans in Sacramento.
During the tour, Jennifer Lopez will be gracing stages across the country including the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Pepsi Centre in Denver, AT&T Centre in San Antonio, American Airlines Centre in Dallas, United Centre in Chicago, Madison Square Garden in New York, Capital One Arena in Washington, State Farm Arena in Atlanta, and the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
In the middle of the US tour, she’ll cross the border to do shows in Toronto and Montreal. Finally, August will see the tour come to a close with some international dates. This includes shows in Egypt, Israel, Russia, and Turkey.
If you can’t make any of the dates but still want to stay up to date with the tour, several videos have made their way onto YouTube already. Plus, she seems to be posting frequently on Instagram (including a cute snap with her daughter, Emme!).
