Jeannie Mai, 40, has come out to tell about how she was sexually abused as a young girl. The TV personality and talk show host claims she was a victim of sexual abuse as a kid. She says she was sexually abused by a family member for what started in one day and turned to weeks, months, going to years.

The How Do I Look star claims she couldn’t voice out the continuous abuse because she was afraid of what could happen. Then it continued for a long time by a male family member when she was just 9 years. She continued to state that the incident had led to an estrangement between her and her mother. Apparently, her mother didn’t believe such a thing happened.
Jeannie Mai sits along with her mother to make this revelation. In the YouTube clip, she stated why she and her mother didn’t talk for many years. The traumatic experience led to an 8 years rift between Jeannie Mai and her mother Olivia Mai.

According to Jeannie Mai’s narration, her mother, Olivia Mai had to take a second job when she gave birth to her second brother. This made her mom to leave her in the care of a family member to watch her every time she got back from school. The family member came in to act as Jeannie Mai’s babysitter and came in every day to stay with her after school. They got really cool with time and he became an iconic person in her life.

Jeannie Mai was 9 at that time while the family member was 17. She said since he was going to be watching her for a long time, they got comfortable with each other quickly. Then, Jeannie recalled how it started. She said, on that particular day, the unnamed family member was sitting close to her while they were playing video games, only for him to start touching her thigh. Jeannie claimed she was stunned because she had never been touched in such ways and she couldn’t tell if it was wrong but she felt something.

The TV star claimed the touching continued everyday growing with more intensity. She said she could remember how he pulled her into the shower and it was the first time she saw a grown man. He then told her to touch him in certain ways. It happened every day and it turned into months. She didn’t say anything to anyone because she was afraid. Jeannie said she didn’t want to say anything to her parents as she could see that times were hard and they were struggling to get money.

When she was 13 and decided to confide in her mom, the woman didn’t just get it. Her mother voiced out to say she didn’t realize what her daughter was trying to say. She recalled how the abuser turned aggressive and she was angry within herself because her mother didn’t believe her. The situation led to her running away from home to live by herself in California. The scene became really emotional when Olivia revealed she confronted the abuser who pleaded with her not to turn him in to the authorities. Jeanie and her Mom cried for not realizing that her Olivia believed her. She claims all she needed was her mom’s support, and knowing she has it has freed up something inside of her.
