Jamie Lee Curtis is a veteran of Hollywood who is celebrated for her roles in movies like True Lies, Halloween, and Trading Places. The 64-year-old actress got candid with how she feels about aging saying she feels “more alive today than I ever have.”

The actress recently received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once. While aging may be stigmatized in a place like Hollywood, Curtis feels like she has aged like fine wine and hasn’t felt better than this in years. Her career is nowhere on the brink of a stoppage as she continues to work on more and more films with every advancing year, taking roles of all kinds.

AARP Movies For Grownups Awards

Recently, the AARP magazine awarded Jamie Lee Curtis with the AARP Career Achievement Award at their Movies For Grownups Award ceremony. Brendan Fraser and Michelle Yeoh were given the Best Actor and Actress awards, while Top Gun: Maverick won best picture at the same award show.

Curtis talks about how she feels lucky in an interview with the same magazine:

“I’m talking about expanding intellectually,” she said. “I’m an autodidact and an opsimath — a late-in-life learner. I feel very fortunate that I’m having more creative opportunities — I’m getting to do what I’ve wanted to do since I was a teen. I’m starting to produce and direct things.”

Jamie Talks About Identity

Curtis talked about her current state in the same interview. She has been known for horror flicks from Scream to Halloween. The actress has taken in a plethora of different roles, but according to her, it has all been a process of finding herself. She mentioned that her younger self “never would have known that I was a creator.”

She has had the opportunity to play different roles in filmmaking itself, from acting to producing and directing. Being a creator has come naturally to her, and she’s not about to let age slow her down.

“And now I have emerged,” she continued. “I know who I am. I know what I look like, I know what I look good in. I know what I think. And it is in that immersion of coming into my own self that I’m having this moment. Professionally, emotionally, spiritually, physically.”

In Conclusion

Age is clearly just a number for the Hollywood actress who won’t be stopped by anything. Curtis has received an award for her Achievements and a nod from the Oscars for her most recent role in Everything Everywhere All At Once. Clearly, the actress isn’t planning to slow down or settle because of age. Curtis has continually sought new roles and characters to play. She has sought to play in many mediums, including TV shows such as New Girl, where she played the mother of Zooey Deschanel’s character Jessica. The actress shared her feelings with the wider world, saying

“I’m pro-aging! I feel more alive today than I ever have, even with COVID.”

And we couldn’t be happier for Curtis. All her fans eagerly wait to see her in more films as the years roll by.
