James Gunn Will “For Sure” Work With Margot Robbie In The Future Of DC

James Gunn is perhaps the most loved and, at the same time, hated head of the DC universe. Gunn was given charge of reshaping the DC universe along with Peter Safran by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. The duo has since made a lot of changes that have both excited as well as angered fans. 

New ventures like Peacemaker and Gunn’s The Suicide Squad were big hits among fans. They loved the idea of exploring newer characters within the world of DC. However, newer decisions, like the removal of the entity Snyder-verse Justice League cast, have been a rather sore experience for many fans. Especially fans of Henry Cavill’s Superman have been upset since the actor had fit his role so beautifully over the years.

However, things won’t change anytime soon but Gunn has expressed that he may be working with Margot Robbie again in the future.

Gunn And Robbie

The two previously collaborated on Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, where Margot Robbie played her charismatic character of Harley Quinn. She reprised her role after starring in the earlier film Suicide Squad by director David Ayer in 2016. While the first film did not receive much praise from the fans, the second was certainly a greater success. 

A fan confronted Gunn about his work with Robbie. The fan asked Gunn on Twitter if he’d work with Robbie again in the future, and Gunn responded with a simple, “For sure.” The director has previously been candid about how he enjoys working with Robbie in an interview.

“What’s so great about Margot is that she’s just so good on so many different fronts. She’s a fantastic actor, she’s a fantastic comedian, and she’s a fantastic athlete,” he said in an interview back in July 2021, “I just love working with her. She’s a great person, who doesn’t have an ego.”

Robbie has often been called just as charismatic as the characters she plays on-screen. So there is little doubt that she’s such a delight to work with. Currently, there are no big plans for Harley Quinn to show up in the DC universe, at least none that have been revealed to the public. The latest endeavor of the studios is the upcoming film The Flash starring the recently notorious actor Ezra Miller. Even though there are no plans, Robbie has expressed her interest in playing Quinn again soon. She also mentioned how she enjoyed working with the director in the past. She mentioned how the “visionary director” has incredible humor:

“His humor is just so bizarre,” she added, how it was “incredibly weird and specific.”

The remarks are right on point for anyone who has ever seen any of Gunn’s previous films. The director is responsible for The Guardians of the Galaxy films from Marvel, which are usually a laughter riot. Gunn will be ending his contract with Marvel with the latest Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 film that is coming up. 

The film stars Dave Bautista, among others making a fan mention, “I just realized @JamesGunn worked with two wrestlers who are both incredible actors.” This was in reference to John Cena, who stars as Peacemaker, and Dave, who stars as Drax in the Marvel films.

He has previously talked about the humble John Cena, who is a delight for many fans and creators alike:

“John Cena is among the best people to work with — always prepared & on time & kind to everyone,” he said. “He & many of my regulars are among the actors I die to work with. I want to shout out to them here but the paucity of characters means I’d be leaving many out.”

Hopefully, with Peacemaker and Harley Quinn already having been in the same movie, we’ll get to see Robbie and Cena collaborate again soon under Gunn’s direction.
