Halle Berry Reveals How Pierce Brosnan Saved Her Life While Filming “Die Another Day”

Halle Berry made some revelations when she visited “The Tonight Show” on virtual chat last Tuesday. The Oscar-winning actress opened up on a secret that she has successfully kept away from the tabloids and social media since her time on “Die Another Day,” the 2002 James Bond installment.

The actress recounted what happened on the set of the movie with Jimmy Fallon. It was while she was giving a detailed account of a super intense fight scene in “Bruised,” her new MMA movie that Jimmy Fallon asked the 53-year old actress if she had ever done an embarrassing action sequence.

This question jogged Berry’s memory about a scene that went awry in a James Bond back in 2002. While filming the movie alongside Pierce Brosnan, the “Double-O” British spy once saved Berry’s life when she suddenly started choking.

“I was supposed to be all sexy, trying to seduce him with a fig,” Berry said, talking about her role as the Bond girl character, Jinx Johnson. “I ended up choking on it, and he had to get up and do the Heimlich.” So, that was not sexy, Berry finished.

Fallon remarked: “You never see that in a James Bond movie.” To which Berry replied, “You should have seen it. Brosnan (James Bond) knows how to Heimlich. He was there for me. He will always be one of my favorite people in the whole world.”

Brosnan once recalled that he cracked a joke as they were shooting the erotic scene and Berry started laughing and then she suddenly gagged.

“Suddenly, there was no sound coming out,” Brosnan said. “I banged her on the back, then began putting my arms around her to do the Heimlich.”

On the Coronavirus Pandemic

During the conversation, the topic turned to the ongoing novel coronavirus national quarantine that was already in play. Berry revealed that she was holed up with her two kids: her 12-year-old daughter, Nahla – whom she shared with Gabriel Aubry, her ex – and her 6-year-old son, Maceo whom she shares actor Oliver Martinez, her ex-husband.

While Nahla, Berry’s daughter seems to be taking this period in stride, the same cannot be said of her younger brother, Maceo who according to his mother, is “like a madman right now.” Berry said, “He is bouncing off the walls, he just doesn’t know what’s happening. It’s really hard for him.”

Berry even revealed that she presently utilizes her lovely son as a weight during her workout sessions at home. And she stated that Maceo was holding up pretty well, especially during her leg extensions which aid in keeping the 6-year-old kid occupied.

“I even use my son as workout equipment when we’re goofing around,” Berry disclosed in Women’s Health last week. “I’ll sit in a chair, and he’ll lay across my feet, and I’ll do a few sets of leg extensions.”
