In Napa Valley, California, jubilation almost turned to disaster when Madison Beer was forced to stop her set at BottleRock Festival. While singing Radiohead’s Creep, reports suggest somebody in the crowd shouted that there was a weapon in the vicinity. Immediately, the crowd dispersed, and videos show fans screaming and running from the scene.
Fortunately, the security teams and police announced that no weapons were present, and nobody had been hurt. Eventually, an official statement said that it was simply a ‘minor disturbance’. With no threat to the crowd or performers, the event continued, and Madison Beer sparkled on stage; the man who caused the disturbance was ejected from the famous festival.
Worries of a Mother
Though it was simply a minor disturbance this time, it shows the concern there is for singers and performers alike. For Madison’s mother, Tracie, she was open about her own fears after posting on Instagram. In a time where we wake up in fear of another mass shooting, Tracie noted her worries for her daughter, Madison.
In the message, she explains that parents simply want to protect their children. Yet, we’re living in a world where we always need to be aware of our surroundings. She went on to say that concerts should be a place to let the hair down and forget about the stresses of the world, but recent events elsewhere have changed this. Suddenly, we’re looking over our shoulders and seem to be on edge.
Tracie finished by noting the ‘disturbing and unsettling’ nature of the gun scare. With the sad death of Christina Grimmie in 2016 and the events we’ve seen at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester and the Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas, we’re sure security teams and leading figures at the police will be working hard to ensure the safety of performers and crowds at large events.
Strong Performance for Madison
Once the disturbance was over, the show did go on and Madison Beer showed why all attention has been on her recently. As the sun shone down, the show seemed to cap a busy few weeks after she was seen partying with all the stars as Kylie Jenner launched a new skincare range. Before this, Beer was also busy on the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival.
Only 20 years of age, her new single ‘Dear Society’ was released just last week and fans are excited for the upcoming album. Like many singers these days, she started by posting videos on YouTube at the age of 13. Soon enough, Justin Bieber shared one of her videos and the rest is history.
Aged just 15, she released ‘Unbreakable’ and has been working on her debut album ever since. Though fans have been treated to As She Pleases, an EP, she has been waiting on her full album and the release is now just around the corner.
