Date For Release
The film has set itself up for a 2024 release date. So far, only the release date for the film is known, and not a plot or any other details regarding it. The film remains untitled as of yet. However, David Scarpa, who worked with Scott on All The Money In The World, is all set to write the script of this upcoming movie as well. 27-year-old Irish actor Paul Mescal is also in negotiations to play the titular character of the upcoming film. The actor has recently received an Oscar nomination for his latest film Aftersun. The actor has also worked in theatre before getting into the film industry.
The film was initially produced in partnership with Universal, who have shown interest in producing this new film as well. In the first film, after the death of his father leads Commodus to become the self-appointed new king, he demotes Marcus Aurelius. Made to force the pain of a smaller position, Maximus has to defeat everyone in the way with nothing but his trusty sword. While the plot for the new film remains elusive, the knowledge that the epic is making a comeback will surely keep the fans excited and ready to save on that ticket money.
