In 2019, there has already been plenty of ups and downs in the world of celebrities. While Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas tied the knot and Kanye and Kim welcomed a fourth child, Louis C.K. is fighting for his career. Elsewhere, who can we expect to have a big 2019? Let’s take a look!
Rihanna
Yes, the news we’ve all been waiting for; new music from RiRi. Although it seems like we’ve been waiting a lifetime, we’re closer than ever as the Barbados singer continually teases new information.
So far, her avid followers have been referring to the album as #R9 since no official name has been revealed. In fact, Rihanna has already joked about calling her album R9 since it has been affectionately adopted by her so-called ‘Navy’.
Whatever it’s called, we can’t wait, and her close friend Jennifer Rosales suggested that it was finished back in March, so we could be closer than we think.
Sophie Turner
Everything is coming up Sophie Turner right now. As we mentioned, she recently wed Joe Jonas and the Brit also waved goodbye to Game of Thrones. For most, this would be enough…not for Sophie. Later this year, we’ll see the release of Dark Phoenix which will provide an origin story for Jean Grey, one of the most popular X-Men.
Tessa Thompson
Much like Sophie Turner, Tessa Thompson seems to be taking all the big roles on TV and in the movies currently. This will continue in 2019 after already finding success in Sorry to Bother You, Westworld, and Creed II. According to Thompson herself, representation in films is one of her key goals and she chooses her roles carefully based on this contribution.
In 2019, her journey will continue as she stands alongside Chris Hemsworth in Men in Black: International. Released in June, this is another film we look forward to seeing; it also offers Emma Thompson, Rafe Spall, Liam Neeson, and Rebecca Ferguson.
Julia Michaels
Returning to the world of music, Julia Michaels has risen to fame in recent times. As well as her hit song ‘Issues’, she has also earned writing credits on songs for Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, and Nick Jonas.
Following up on her triple-platinum album Issues, Michaels actually delayed her second album release from September 2018 since she didn’t feel it was ready. This is something we admire, although we’re eagerly anticipating the album and the likely tour that will follow.
Donald Glover
In truth, Donald Glover could have been on this list for 2017, 2018, and this year too. Every year, he seems to take his career to a new level whether it’s through music or acting. Last year, the world paid attention as he released his ‘This is America’ video. Yet, he also found time to play Lando Calrissian in Solo as well as having a role in Atlanta on FX.
This year, he’s touring as Childish Gambino, playing Simba in the live-action remake of Lion King, and more. Something tells us he’ll be in our 2020 list too!
