Evan Rachel Wood is a Hollywood A-lister who has been seen in fascinating roles. Most prominently, for playing Dolores in the hit sci-fi series Westworld created by Jonathon Nolan alongside Lisa Joy, among others. The actress has shown phenomenal acting skills in other films and TV shows as well, like Thirteen, Into The Forest, and True Blood.

The actress was always a strong advocate who stood against domestic violence and harassment. In a documentary series titled Phoenix Rising, Rachel Wood fights against the issues while also telling her survivor story. But what exactly happened to Evan Rachel Wood, and why is she being accused of being one of the people who accused another accuser? Let’s break it down.

Accusations Against Marilyn Manson

Back in February 2021, the actress accused rock artist Brian Warner, better known as Marlyn Manson, as her abuser. She and Manson had been in a relationship where she was exploited, manipulated, and destroyed physically and mentally. This is not the first time Manson has been accused of being a complete predator. Back in 1998, Manson talked about covering a deaf fan in the meat before having sex. The fan was later urinated on by Manson and his bandmates. All of this was covered in his autobiography. He was also found guilty of having sexually and physically assaulted a security guard in 2001.

So all the accusations come off as a little less than a surprise. After Evan Rachel Wood published her allegations against the performer, four more women came forward with similar charges. Here’s what Rachel Wood said on her social media handles:

“I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent,” said Rachel Wood on her Instagram page. She has previously been very vocal about pursuing the law against sexual abuse. In 2018, she testified before Congress in order to pass a bill for sexual abuse survivors all over the country.

“My experience with domestic violence was this,” she said, “the toxic mental, physical, and sexual abuse which started slow but escalated over time, including threats against my life, severe gaslighting, and brainwashing, waking up to the man that claimed to love me, raping what he believed to be my unconscious body.” She said in her statement without declaring the name of her abuser.

Now, after finally accusing Manson, she found more women who had undergone similar treatment by Manson. One of them was Ashley Morgan Smithline. However, recently, Smithline pulled her accusations against Manson back and turned on Rachel Wood instead:

“I succumbed to pressure from Evan Rachel Wood and her associates to make accusations of rape and assault against [Manson] that were not true,” she said in her declaration.

Rachel Wood was obviously taken aback by the response. She denied having any contact with the survivor before meeting her for the filming of Pheonix Rising. The statement comes from the lawsuit against Rachel Wood by Manson. Here’s what Rachel Wood had to say:

“I never pressured or manipulated Ashley Morgan Smithline to make any accusations against Plaintiff Brian Warner, and I certainly never pressured or manipulated her to make accusations that were not true,” said Wood. “It was Ms. Smithline who first contacted me in March 2019.”

The courtroom is likely to make a decision regarding the lawsuits in due time. Until then, the truth remains obscure. However, it is more than likely that Manson truly did commit all the horrifying acts he is being accused of. He has a history of violence and sexual assault and does not shy away from being proud of it.
