Courteney Cox was the first woman to ever say the word ‘Period’ on television. Since then, her career has reached incredible highs and also hit significant lows. The actress, now 58, is one of the six cast members of the generational hit TV sitcom FRIENDS. She has also worked in multiple shows and films. She has also become a successful entrepreneur and businesswoman. But most importantly, she has succeeded in overcoming her humble beginnings. The star was overcome by emotion as she attended the ceremony where she was officially given a star on the walk of fame. She was joined by her co-actors from FRIENDS and her beloved friends. Here are all the details:
Courteney’s Friends
The actress was joined by Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow. Fans would recognize the two from FRIENDS. The chemistry between the three girls of the sitcom was immortalized thanks to all the endless days and nights they spent at Monica’s apartments gushing over cute guys and getting over exes. The show aired for almost ten years, between September 1994 to May of 2004. The cast became a tight-knit family and are still in touch to this day
Cox was also joined by her old buddy Laura Dern and boyfriend, Johnny McDaid. She also had Coco by her side, her 18-year-old daughter with ex David Arquette. Cox had tears in her eyes as she recalled her journey in Hollywood. Her friends and family gave tributes to Cox. Dern called her “the most extraordinary person possible.” She said, “If you’re lucky enough to know her, you learn that she can’t help herself. She has to be honest about who she is, about how she sees the world, and, frankly, about what she sees in us. It’s not always easy but she makes you better by knowing her, by working with her and if you’re really fortunate, you get to love her.”
The two met each other on a flight, and by the end, they’d found the closest of friends in one another. Recalling the day, Dern became emotional “we knew we’d found a sister,” she said.
Courteney’s Story
Cox recalled the time she struggled to keep following her passion as an actress. Her father had called her up, asking her to come back to her home in Alabama. Cox had nearly exhausted her money and could have only survived for two more weeks had things been that way for long. She was asked to come home and sell swimming pools for a living. Thankfully, she got her big break sooner than expected.
“The next day I got Family Ties,” she said. “This will make me cry because I do love my dad, but I just want to say that I know he’s really proud of me, and it does look like I’m here to stay.”
She said with tears in her eyes as she pointed at her star. Cox mentioned how she is terrified of public speaking, but thankfully, Kudrow and Anniston were present with her for her aid and comfort.
“I was really nervous to meet her because I was a huge fan,” Aniston said speaking about Cox. “I remember seeing her at the Flowering Tree, a yogurt store that we would go to. I panicked, I sweat, and I just didn’t know what she was going to be like when we got our job.”
Courteney Cox was the most famous of all the FRIENDS cast members, with multiple projects to back her up. And by the end of FRIENDS, she’d become one of the best-known actresses of all time.
