It has been a strange time in the world recently, and even the celebrity world has gone quiet as COVID-19 sweeps across the planet. A decade ago, the financial crisis seemed to affect the whole Western world – except for celebrities. Now, we’re in a time where even the rich and famous can’t escape the threat of the virus. Sadly, here’s a list of some popular names who have fought the disease either directly or indirectly.
Laine Hardy
The reason we decided to bring you this article today is because, unfortunately, the American Idol winner has received a positive diagnosis for coronavirus. With mild symptoms, he confirmed that he is now recovering in quarantine.
DL Hughley
On June 19th, it was reported that DL Hughley had collapsed while performing a stand-up routine. Three days later, it was confirmed that the actor has coronavirus. As an asymptomatic sufferer, he didn’t have any of the normal symptoms of COVID-19. However, he has visited the hospital and is now quarantining at home.
Ronald Fenty
Rihanna fans will recognize the surname, and this is because the singer’s father has battled the disease. After 14 days at the Paragon Isolation Center, Ronald’s condition eventually improved after a long battle with coronavirus. Since, he was announced clear of the virus and has been recovering in Barbados ever since.
Tom Dempsey
Not everybody has been lucky enough to recover from COVID-19, and sports fans were saddened to hear the passing of Tom Dempsey. As an NFL legend, few people in New Orleans will forget the winning field goal he kicked despite all the odds. Born with no fingers on the right hand or toes on the right foot, he wore special shoes and enjoyed an 11-year career in the NFL.
Prince Charles
As soon as a royal contracted COVID-19, it really was a concern for people all over the world – even royalty couldn’t avoid its clutches. Fortunately, Duchess Camilla tested negative and Prince Charles was able to isolate and recover back in April.
Boris Johnson
While the UK had a prince out of action, the prime minister also contracted coronavirus. He spent some time in hospital, received help from colleagues, and is now back running the country as normal.
Colton Underwood
Returning to the US, Colton Underwood, famous for his stint on The Bachelor, claimed that he was self-isolating at Cassie Randolph’s parents’ home in California (before the split!). In an Instagram video, Underwood revealed that even climbing the stairs was proving difficult.
Other stars hit by coronavirus include:
- Idris Elba
- Andy Cohen
- Sabrina Dhowre
- Rand Paul
- Joe Diffie
- John Prine
- Chris Cuomo
As time goes on, we seem to be taking steps back to some form of normality. However, it will be a normality without loved ones lost during this pandemic. We hope everybody is staying safe, and we hope to see celebrities bringing their talents to the world again very soon!
