Buckingham Palace was stunned when it was discovered that Queen Elizabeth II’s son, Prince Charles who is presently first in line to the British throne, has tested positive to COVID-19. The Prince of Wales is presently in self-isolation in Scotland.

According to a Palace spokeswoman who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Queen was following the appropriate advice concerning her welfare.

The Duchess of Cornwall Tests Negative

According to the statement, the wife of the Prince of Wales, Camilla, the 72—year-old Duchess of Cornwall, has tested negative to the coronavirus. It was also confirmed that the royal couple is presently self-isolating at their home, Burnham on the Balmoral Estate located in Scotland. This is in accordance with medical and government advice.

The tests were conducted by the National Health Service (NHS) in Aberdeenshire, where they met the requirement for testing.

Public Events Attended by Prince Charles

Clarence House stated that it is presently not possible to find out whom the Prince of Wales may have caught the novel virus from. The office, however, made a note of several engagements Prince Charles was actively involved in over the past few weeks.

The Prince of Wales had several private meetings immediately after the March 12 public event with Duchy and Highgrove individuals. All of these individuals have been made aware of the prevailing situation.

Cancellation of Royal Tour

Prince Charles and his wife have cancelled their forthcoming 8-day royal tour which was scheduled to begin from March 17 and conclude on March 25. There were also planned stops in Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Republic of Cyprus.

The office shared the following statement: “Owing to the unfolding situation with the pandemic, the British Government has asked Their Royal Highnesses to put off their spring tour to Cyprus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Jordan”.

The Queen Moves to Windsor Castle Earlier than Planned

The British Royal Family has also announced their intention to move the monarch to Windsor Castle where she will stay temporarily amid the ever-growing coronavirus pandemic. This movement comes a week earlier than planned.
