Bruce Willis is an actor, producer, and singer who was born on Friday, March 19th, 1955. This year he turns 68 years old. He is best known for his roles in the action movies Die Hard, The Sixth Sense, and Pulp Fiction. The biggest Hollywood movie star of the 1980s and 1990s is celebrating his 68th birthday today. However, today, Willis is no longer a part of Hollywood. The famous actor had to take a step back from acting and being a part of the industry after his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. However, Willis is trying to live his life after 60 to the fullest and recently celebrated his birthday with his family.

Diagnosis

Earlier this year, Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a degenerative disorder that harshly affects the functioning of an individual. Willis did a score of badly made and received films by the end of his career. People who worked with him on set often described him as confused and lost on set. He had to be fed his lines through a constant ear monitor because the actor had trouble remembering his dialogue.

His family soon declared that Bruce would be taking a step back and retiring from acting since he was in no condition to continue. They later broke the news about the dementia diagnosis that took the world by shock. The veteran actor will no longer be seen in any new movies, but thankfully, at least we have the tons of films he left behind for us.

Birthday

Willis’ diagnosis hasn’t stopped him from trying and living his life to the fullest extent possible. He recently celebrated his 68th birthday on the 19th of March. The actor was seen celebrating with his wife, Emma Heming Willis, among other family members. His ex-wife Demi Moore also joined him and his family in celebrating his birthday. Moore posted a video of the Willis family celebrating with her. Here’s what she captioned it:

“Happy birthday, BW! So glad we could celebrate with you today. Love you and love our family. Thank you to everyone for the love and warm wishes — we all feel them.”

Bruce Willis has three daughters with his ex-wife Moore and two with Emma Willis, his current wife. One of his daughters with Moore, Scout, also wished her dad a happy birthday now that he turned 68. She called her father “one of my best friends, the Pisces king, the master of duality, both action hero icon and gentle girl dad.”

However, it wasn’t all fun and smiles since the day also marked Willis’ first birthday since the diagnosis. It has not been easy for any of his family members to deal with things. Scout also mentioned how it was a day filled with grief as well:

“Today is not necessarily an easy day, because it’s a day full of so deep love, and our grief really does show us the depth of our loving for someone,” she said in the caption of her post. “So I’m trying to be with both today. Grief is a price I’ll always pay to know what it is to feel such love.”

Clearly, his family is going through a lot. Even his wife, who he married back in 2009, uploaded a video for the fans where she was seen crying as she spoke.

“I have started the morning by crying as you can see by my swollen eyes and snotty nose. I just think it’s important that you see all sides of this,” she said. “I always get this message or people always tell me that like, ‘You’re so strong. I don’t know how you do it.’ I’m not given a choice. I wish I was.”

The Willis family will always have the thoughts and prayers of fans around the world. Hopefully, we get to see Willis feel better and celebrate his life as often as possible.
