Everyone is familiar with the Hollywood icon that is Arnold Schwarzenegger. The actor has starred in a multitude of films, and a lot of them have been fundamental to certain genres. For instance, in Predator, where Arnold plays a military mercenary fighting an invisible alien threat that hides in the trees and hunts down unsuspecting humans. He has also starred in the Terminator films where his dialogue “I’ll be back” became immortal. The veteran star started off as a bodybuilder and slowly climbed up the ranks in his acting career. Now, after a long drought of Arnold movies, we’re getting FUBAR, a Netflix original that just dropped a fresh new trailer.
FUBAR
The title is an abbreviation that stands for fucked up beyond all repair. Arnold stars as a CIA officer who is just about ready to retire and leave his career behind for good. But there’s always that one last case that keeps the story going. The show will be an eight-episode series that also stars Jay Baruchel, Monica Barbaro, and Fabiana Udenio, among others. Arnold opens up about the comparisons being made between FUBAR and his 1994 hit True Lies. Here’s what he had to say:
“Everywhere I go, people ask me when I’m going to do another big action comedy like True Lies. Well, here it is,” Schwarzenegger said in his statement. “FUBAR will kick your ass and make you laugh — and not just for two hours. You get a whole season.”
The 1994 True Lies was created by James Cameron, the legend responsible for the current winner at the global box office. The series focuses on Arnold’s character in a comedic take and gives us punchy one-liners and Terminator references. Netflix just released a trailer for the series where we can see Arnold shooting pistols and flying off in motorbikes and cars. Here’s the official synopsis released by Netflix:
A CIA Operative on the verge of retirement discovers a family secret. Forced to go back into the field for one last job, the series tackles universal family dynamics set against a global backdrop of spies, action, and humor.
