During the game between the Toronto Raptors and the Milwaukee Bucks, Drake was full of energy and enthusiasm in support of his country based side, Toronto Raptors.
On the night of May 21, the game grew hot between the two sides, and that got Drake hyped to the extent that one would think he has a fortune to lose if the team, Toronto Raptors should lose the game. Drake was jumping around the whole court during the game with so much enthusiasm and excitement. Well, fortunately for him, his side won the game and this is more the reason for his actions, one of which included him going over to the Toronto Raptors’ coach, Nick Nurse and gave him a rub on the shoulder. It was some sort of a show.
Drake has always been one for moments like this. Similar actions and anticipation has taken place in support of NBA players like LeBron James and Kevin Durant. With the recent loss of the Bucks to Toronto Raptors, that takes their form against the Drake supported side to two losses in a row. The whole aftermath issue, words and all could, therefore, be understood as a product of a rivalry getting intense.
However, if the actions of Drake pleased everyone, it certainly didn’t have a good impact on the opposing side’s coach, Mike Budenholzer who openly admitted he’s displeased by the whole “drama”. Malikas Andrew, an NBA reporter has revealed what Bucks coach, Mike Budenholzer said about the actions of Drake. Through a tweet, the reporter said,
Drake was a hot topic of conversation on today’s conference call with Mike Budenholzer. He said, in part, ‘There’s certainly no place for fans — or whatever Drake is for the Raptors — on the court. There’s boundaries and lines for a reason
Of course, Drake was against the words of Mike concerning his actions on the night. To both sides, the issue was really understandable. Drake was simply supporting and getting his side pumped up for the game, while the displeasure of Mike and his words reflects the effect of the loss. If the game had gone in favor of the Bucks, perhaps Mike would really not care, or at most he would just troll Drake for the loss despite his pumped-up spirit. Similar issues like this happen in virtually every sport that has high intensity when so much is at stake.
Well, it’s not only the Buck’s coach that has made a comment on the event that took place on the night. Georgios Dimitropoulos, a Giannis Antetokounmpo senior executive representative tweeted these words below before deleting it:
“Imagine a gig & an athlete on VIP seats, right next to the band, stands up on the stage just to show off during the entire game, knowing cameras are on him, occasionally even massaging the singer. Security & he both allow it. Never seen anything as disrespectful as this before…”
Fans of the opposing side and others who feel the actions of Drake was not right to have also taken to Instagram and Twitter to criticize his actions. However, it is left to the NBA itself to take its stand on the issue, as the body responsible for controlling the league. We wait patiently to hear from the NBA who, of course, has the final say to decide if the actions of Drake violated the rules or not.
