Adam Sandler is an actor, comedian, and producer who began his career in stand-up comedy. He is famous for his roles in films such as Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, The Waterboy, Funny People, and That’s My Boy. His films have made over $4 billion overall and cater to all generations of people. Previously, the award has been given to greats like Dave Chappelle, Tina Fey, and Will Farrell.

He was awarded the 2023 Mark Twain Humor Prize for his work at the Kennedy Center in DC. The award is given out to people who have made a significant contribution to twentieth-century humor through their writing, lecturing, or playing brilliant comedic roles. Basically, doing just about anything that contributes to comedy.

Many of Sandler’s friends and co-comedians over the years showed up to cheer for the actor/comedian on his special evening. This included people like Conan O’Brien, Ben Stiller, and Judd Apatow.

Toasts For Sandler

Ben Stiller, the famous actor who has previously starred in films like Zoolander, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and Night at the Museum, also worked with Sandler in his drama films, The Meyerowitz Stories. Stiller said that “his work feels effortless. I don’t want to say ‘lazy,’ because that’s not the right word…but I don’t have a better word right now, so let’s go with it.”

The actor then went on to promptly create an Adam Sandler film plot filled with jarring plot points and Sandler’s taste in comedy that made the entire room have fits of laughter. Conan O’Brien also cheered on the actor in his toast. O’Brien, who is famous for his late-night talk show, also worked with Sandler on SNL, a show that has single-handedly contributed the most artists to the Mark Twain Prize.
