Has the Hunter Become the Hunted? An Eerily Familiar Déjà vu As Donald Trump is Greeted with ‘Lock Him Up’ Chants and Boos at World Series.

Published

on

Borrowing a leave from Trump’s classic playbook tricks, fans at the Baseball World Series greeted the president with boos and chants of ‘lock him up’ amid an earlier announcement that the commander of the terrorist group ISIS has been killed.

It’s ironic to listen to baseball fans – dissatisfied Americans, if you like – go full Trumpy on Trump.

The chants and boos began when President Donald Trump was displayed on the screen at Nationals Park during Game 5 of the world Series night, writes Vox.

A cruel reminder of the recent past

‘lock him up’ ringing through the air at the National Park is a cruel throwback to the 2016 RNC campaign rally cries, where republicans and their supporters often chant ‘lock her up’ which is directed at the then Democrat’s candidate Hillary Clinton, even though, she has never been indicted in any criminal investigations for wrongdoing.

…though, it wasn’t the first time Donald Trump is being heckled by sports fans…

Back in 2018, two years into his presidency in Atlanta, the crowd at the playoff between the University of Alabama and University of Georgia booed Mr. Trump.

Though at the time, his reception at the stadium was met with mixed reactions. However, what happened at the National Park was entirely different – it’s a sign that Americans – at least those in the stadium are tired of the President’s antics and were prepared to let him know.

Interestingly, the boos came at a time when Mr. Trump had just proudly announced to the American people the death of Omar al-Baghdadi, leader of the ISIS in a covert U.S. military raid.

…And Analysts are on overdrive what this could mean for the Trump Presidency

Some experts, especially those on Politico think, the President’s appearance at Game 5 of the World Series with only his staunch supporters and wife is a sign of growing isolation.

They argued Nat’s Park is perhaps, the only gathering place in Washington D.C. where both the Democrats and Republicans are seen together in equal measure – but this time, his box was on full red.

As expected, several people are reacting to the chants of ‘lock him up’

A twitter commentator, Quinta Jurecic @qjurecic said, “The incorporation into normal political practice of the suggestion that political opponents should be imprisoned is not a good or healthy sign!”

Then another user, with twitter handle, @emptywheel replied, “It’s totally okay to boo someone, especially Trump, especially given his own demagoguery (and probably useful for his impeachment defense squad watching with him to see it), but it’s not okay to chant “lock him up” [because of] due process.”

Chris Geidner @chrisgeidner shared his concerns of what will become of America after Trump’s presidency.

“We’re able to be like Trump! Should not be our goal. Moments like this really strike at my ‘what do we do – and how will we be – after Trump?’ concern.”

MSNBC’s host Scarborough and Brzezinski shared similar views, “We are Americans and we do not do that. We do not want the world hearing us chant ‘Lock him up’ to this president or to any president.”

One thing is clear from the reactions however, in spite of Donald Trump’s erratic behaviors Americans are not ready to go down the same path with him. But as some would say, “Lock him up” chants are a poetic karma to give the President a dose of his own medicine.

Star Wars Celebration 2025 Announced

Star Wars Celebration

Disney had to shut the door on 2023’s Star Wars Celebration. But with that being out of the way, the forces have announced the next time they’ll be celebrating the franchise. So, in a galaxy far, far away, fans and celebrities from the franchise will come together and rejoice in the name of the force. The next Celebration will happen in 2025, sounds a bit too far, doesn’t it?

Star Wars Celebration In Japan

Celebration cinema movies and so much more await fans in Japan. What an interesting choice to hold the next Star Wars Celebration. What’s more fascinating is that Disney has completely overlooked the year 2024 as a potential candidate. But it’s not all that bewildering if you think it through. There are absolutely no Star Wars movies planned in the coming years. It would be ideal to take a short break for this very reason.

Japanese fans are always known for taking things one step further with their cosplays and conventions. This time, disney+ japan has brought everyone to Central Tokyo, home of one of Japan’s biggest convention centers.

Nicely placed in the Makuhari Messe district, this convention center will welcome thousands of fans from all over the world on the 18th of April 2025. The celebration will go on until the 20th of April.

Would it surprise you if we were to say the 2025 edition is not the first time Disney has picked Japan as its host? Back in 2008, Japan hosted another Star Wars Celebration. It’s outlandish but in the best way because usually, fans in the U.K. and the U.S. get to host the celebration. Imagine not having London hotels to stay in this time around. Perhaps this time, a cool little sleeping pod at a Japanese hotel can be fans’ mainstay.

Thanks to everyone’s favorite, COVID-19, the fan-gathering was called off in 2020. So the next time you get to go, know that it’s been five years since then. Hopefully, Pedro Pascal shows up and lightens up everyone’s mood at the convention.

David Crosby Died of COVID-19

The news is from January. It’s a sobering thought when you realize many of our favorite 90s musicians are slowly retiring to heaven. What could possibly go wrong? Well, an awful lot. Firstly, Crosby’s contributions to rock made him an absolute legend, so a whole wave of artists is saddened. But also, we will never get any more new music from him.

The sentiment resonated with his former bandmate, Graham Nash. Nash broke the news telling the world that their favorite musician was still practicing for a show before he passed. He appeared on a podcast called Kyle Meredith With…

“He was rehearsing for a show to do in Los Angeles with a full band,” said Nash on the podcast. “After three days of rehearsals, he felt a little sick. And he’d already had COVID, and he had COVID again. And so he went home and decided that he would take a nap, and he never woke up. But he died in his bed, and that is fantastic,”

David Crosby’s Documentary

Nash also said how Crosby living up to being 80 was “astonishing.” With the current life expectancy levels paired up with Crosby’s liver issues. You may have expected the man to die a lot earlier, say about twenty years ago. At least, that’s what Nash thought. You may not have heard of a fantastic documentary made on our daytime legend. It rightfully chronicled all his struggles with life, health, and all things personal.

However, old fans may be familiar with a recent documentary titled remember my name. The documentary, directed by A.J. Eaton, showed our beloved rockstar in his rawest form. It talked about David Crosby’s regrets, fears, and so much more. The perfect watch for you if you’re a Crosby megafan.

His legend lives on for longer after Crosby last closed his eyes on the 18th of January, 2023. He also worked with The Lighthouse Band back in December 2022. The band included Michelle Willis, Becca Stevens, and Michael League. With them, Crosby released his own album, David Crosby & The Lighthouse Band: Live at the Capitol Theatre. You can also stream the album from platforms such as Spotify.
